We Nebraskan are proud of the heritage given to us by those sturdy pioneers who first sought a better life for themselves and for those of us to follow by venturing into a new and unknown land, where they visioned a land of prosperity and freedom. They broke the sod, built schools and churches, and took great pride in being "American."

Many Nebraska communities were settles by the oppressed peoples of Europe. Some of the first people to settle in Colfax County and Clarkson were from Czechoslovakia.
